Fieldwork might be an essential part of any academic research, but it is not so easy to practice truly worthwhile fieldwork for literature. This spring, the latest book of Introductions to the Science of Fieldwork will be published by Tamagawa UP. I'm contributing a chapter about my experiences over the past seven years or so. Through my fieldwork at concentration camp memorial sites in Germany, to the Sado Japanese Crested Ibis Conservation Center, I'll write about how drastically my critical reading of world literature, from Isaac Bashevis Singer to Kazushige Abe, has changed.
